The feedback of group presentation

Survey about Japanese animations & comics
Although I know mot that much about the Japanese animations and comics, still I know that Japan is famous on this too. I was impressed by the fake news which they have been mention the marriage between a real man and the animation character. It really surprises me that they really love animation, and even want to marry them. In conclude, I love the part that they show the open end questions’ answer. It makes me know more and understand more.

Perception of the Japanese people towards Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance Regarding the Healthy Development of Youths

It is interesting that they add some conversation to those characters. It covers all the detail of the survey, they have shown lots of information. But I think it is a little bit too many words. As they mention, the topic is specific focus on the law of Tokyo. I appreciate that they have done such a difficult topic, because it is hard for them to collect the data, as people need to know what is Ordinance about before they do the survey. Last but not least, I think they may be need to consider the time management because I found that they got forty something slide, it is a little too much for 10 minutes presentation. By the way, they do a good job.

How do Japanese feel about Hong Kong?

It is an interesting topic, people usually think from their own opinion instead of others point of view. And so do I, I always think about the image that other countries promote, for instance, the image of Japan, how do promote their travel industry, the famous site or things must do in Japan, etc. After this presentation, I know that the image of Hong Kong is our different lifestyle and Jackie Chan can represent Hong Kong, it really surprise me!!!! At last, it is a good presentation, the aims of the presentation is clear, easy for me to get the message and a very clear powerpoint=]

The use of "I" in Japanese

In Japanese, there are varies kind of ways in using わたし, which means “I” in English.
It mainly defines in two categories- male and female.

Form
Male
Female
Formal
わたくし
わたくし

わたし
わたし
Informal
僕(ぼく)
わたし

あたし
Vulgar
俺(おれ)

For Male:
(a)わたくし/わたしがします
This is the most polite way to say about “I”. When you say in this way, usually the position or status is higher than you and in a not that close relationship.
Because わたくし/わたし usually use in a formal situations, therefore you need to use an appropriate verb form for instance when you use the word “do” する,you should use しますafter that.
(b)僕がします/しますよ
(c)俺がするよ
Obviously, you use this form while you know the status of that person is lower than you, and the relationship between you and him is much closer compare with (a).

(d)俺がします(WRONG)
By the way, when you use a more informal form 俺(おれ),then it would be not match up use with the します.

And this the order of respect way of saying “I” :
The most respectful                à                                    The less respectful
わたくし                        わたし

However, this is totally different of saying “I” of female. Here are the examples.
(a)わたくしがします。
In this example, わたくしis the most politest way to say ”I”.
(b)わたしがします/するわ。
Here, わたしis common way of saying “I”. Moreover, you can also use あたしin an informal situation. And it is important that you cannot useあたし if you are male, because it will make people feel like you are sissy.
For instance, young lady is going to useinstead of あたしto represent “I”.

And this the order of respect way of saying “I” :
The most respectful                à                                    The less respectful
わたくし                                わたし                    あたし

Katakana in HK

As you seen in this photo, this produce not only use kanji, but also the katakana!!! Usually, katakana is used while people needs to transcribe the foreign loan words or it is used to emphasize the meanings, then it would use katakana instead of hiragana. Although both of them are syllabaries.

You may ask why the producer put Japanese on the produce which is selling in Hong Kong. It is because it raise the image of the produse since Japanese cosmestic produces are famous in the world. After adding those words, customers may feel more confident about the quality of it, more willing to it instead of others brand names.
